In his new show at Andrew Kreps, He Xiangyu keenly employs the materiality of clay to question our relationship to the built environment. The exhibition features coil-built dwellings with only the narrowest of window openings, creating an ambiguous and slightly foreboding atmosphere.

For his exhibition at 52 Walker, Arthur Jafa invokes the body’s personal, political, and industrial guises, interweaving images and objects to create a forceful and maximal space.
Central to the exhibition, spanning the entire length of the gallery, is a site-specific installation—a plexiglass structure that Jafa refers to as a “picture unit.”

Rest In Peace oh changer of worlds. Art has never been the same. I felt eerily safe in your steel confines. They were familiar gestures, drawings in space, and I found comfort in their warm burnt umbers, rusts, soft golds and earth browns.
Your works are a contradiction, impossible, heavy yet afloat - macho, rough and tough, but with a weathered surface born of time that is so fragile. I frequently walked away feeling restored and balanced after a stroll through one’s belly. Now we tilt in your honor.

Hot Light, Hard Light is an installation conceived of by Crowner in her Brooklyn studio, where the perception of the form, shadow, and color of the works shifts constantly throughout the day in conjunction with the movement of the sun.
Just as color is not a static element, Crowner’s works shift and morph according to their environment.
